Toyota UUV marries ute underpinnings to a people mover body

The Toyota Ultimate Utility Vehicle has the body of a people mover and the off-roading ability of a ute, with a few hints of Mad Max thrown in for good measure.
Overnight, Toyota’s US arm unveiled the design of its new headquarters in Plano, Texas, about 40 minutes north of Dallas. To spice the affair up a little bit, the company also revealed the Ultimate Utility Vehicle (UUV).
Up top, the UUV features a customised version of the company’s Sienna MPV. Production examples of the Sienna are based on a version of the Camry platform.
For the UUV, the practical Sienna body is mated to underpinnings shoehorned in from the Tacoma ute, the Hilux‘s more butch North American cousin.
From the looks of it, the UUV has reverse-hinged front doors, while the sliding rails for the rear doors have been removed. The company has yet to state how many people the UUV seats, nor which Tacoma drivetrain the car uses.

The UUV will reportedly take part in the company’s Ever-Better Expedition, which puts regular Toyota employees in a range of vehicles as they journey across the country. This cross-country trek follows on from a similar event held in Australia.
Toyota says that the UUV will be displayed at this year’s SEMA show, which takes place in early November in Las Vegas.
